What Our Trainers Listen to During Their Full-Body Workout

In more recent years, sports and exercise psychologists have been studying how music can influence a workout or physical activity. We already know our brain responds to music when we are stationary (like those sad breakup songs making us feel even bluer by the first chord), but there is much to consider about how our brain responds when our body is physically moving while jamming to our favorite bops. Some people have issues staying focused when listening to music while trying to focus on word-based activities like reading; however, studies show that listening to music during a workout is different and can even increase productivity and endurance. A study found that endurance was increased by 65%, and blood flow efficiency by 26% when athletes listened to empowering and encouraging music. These statistics are huge for the exercise industry, as close to 50% of people that start a workout routine usually end up quitting within the first few months of beginning. All in all, we’ve found that music can change your workout game for the positive, so we’ve asked Trend’s own personal trainers for some inspiring workout tunes that will get our blood pumping. 

Our Trainers – Dalon and Cam Mitchell, Founders of Actively Inspired 

We’re lucky to have our own source of inspiring fitness trainers right here, in-house at Trend. Meet Dalon and Cam Mitchell, the founders of Actively Inspired, a local personal training company that specializes in helping San Antonio locals work hard and feel their best inside and outside of the gym space. This special husband and wife team have done their homework, becoming certified personal trainers and receiving their Bachelor of Science degrees in Kinesiology.

Coach Dalon Mitchell found his passion for HIIT workouts early in his college days, and has since practiced and perfected the art of the popular interval training exercise to share with curious beginners and seasoned professionals. Coach Dalon has a unique balance of holding his clients accountable, while also being inclusive and understanding of all levels of experience. He uses strength training, coaching, and even stress management to help you work your butt off while being aware and caring of your specific physical situation and limits. If you’re a beginner, you can set your fear aside with Coach Dalon. 

Coach Cameron Mitchell AKA “Coach Cam loves instruction classes as much as her hubby does, and she also has an added passion for strength training and physical therapy. She is ready to evaluate your fitness level and body restrictions to create a plan just for you. Coach Cam loves to build relationships with her clients by being their biggest cheerleader while teaching them exercises, tips, and wellness knowledge. Apart from Dalon, she has the personal knowledge and unique perspective of experiencing pregnancy and all the body changes that come with that. She can help any person reach their fitness goals and gain the freedom of a healthy body after it has experienced change.
